‘When your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed I am going to set a representative [khalifah] on the earth,” they said, “Will You set in it someone who will cause corruption in it, and shed blood, while we celebrate Your praise and proclaim Your sanctity?” He said, “Indeed I know what you do not know.” (Qur’an 2:30)
‘By the soul and Him who fashioned it, and inspired it with [discernment between] its virtues and vices: Indeed, successful is the one who purifies it.’ (Qur’an 91:7-9)
‘Allah is the Guardian of the faithful: He brings them out of darkness into light. As for the faithless, their patrons are the Rebels, who drive them out of light into darkness. They shall be the inmates of the Fire, and they shall remain in it [forever].’ (Qur’an 2:257)
